AYL Mission Statement

Arlington Youth Lacrosse (AYL) is a community of athletes, parents, coaches and supporters that provides an opportunity for young atheletes to learn about the game of lacrosse, develop their lacrosse skills through practice and competition, and to enjoy the camaraderie associated with team play.

AYL is part of the Patriot Youth Lacrosse League (PYLL) whose  philosophy is “to promote the sport of lacrosse and provide a fun, positive, and enriching experience for youth and parents of Massachusetts, and to play all players “as equally as possible without regard to physical ability.” Our teams are grouped by grade and balanced by ability. No standings are kept, and there are no league championships or playoffs.

AYL serves a broad range of needs. For those new to the sport, we introduce the game and teach basic skills and fundamentals. For atheletes with lacrosse experience we develop the techniques and strategy they will need to take their game to the next level through weekly practices and games. This includes preparation for high school lacrosse programs.

We "take all comers" to try and expose as many boys as possible to the game of lacrosse. But we also communicate the importance of commitment to hard work, developing one’s full potential, and respect for teammates. Lacrosse is new to many players and parents, its rules and skills are different than other sports, and team success really hinges on players working together. This means that atheletes that join a team are expected to regularly attend practices, and to commit to learning the basics of the game, within reasonable limits imposed by other important commitments to family and community.
